L.A. County : Lifeguards Linked to 911
Los Angeles County Lifeguards have been linked to the 911 emergency phone system, Board of Supervisors Chairman Deane Dana has announced.
If a 911 call is made within the coastal region, lifeguards from Malibu to San Pedro will be immediately notified of ocean or beach emergencies, Dana said.
The Department of Beaches and Harbors negotiated for the phone link-up with the state and county 911 coordinators.
