Share

The Harbor-UCLA Family Health Center in Torrance has received $68,820 in contracts from the Statewide Health Planning and Development Office to help train doctors in residency in family medicine. The money will help support faculty and administrative positions in the program, which trains 15 physicians at a time in a three-year residency program and cares for local patients.

The state agency has supported the family physician training program at Harbor-UCLA for 11 years, and in announcing the new contracts a spokesman said the program “has continued to provide comprehensive family-oriented care to Harbor patients and is an important resource in its community.” The state pays for 8.5% of the program and the remainder is provided by Los Angeles County and the UCLA School of Medicine.
