Chula Vista
A Chula Vista man was arrested Saturday in connection with the shooting of a man that police said may have stemmed from an argument about drugs.
Paul Baarstad, 37, was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center with three gunshot wounds in the abdomen and thigh. He was in fair condition Saturday night, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Randall Rhodes, 30, was booked into County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, with bail set at $10,000.
The altercation took place at 9:15 a.m. in Rhodes’ apartment in the 500 block of Naples Street, and is believed to have been drug-related, Chula Vista Police Officer Ruth Culver said.
