Lazers, Mounting a Drive to Playoffs, Play Comets
The Lazers, coming off a 7-2 victory over the defending champion Dallas Sidekicks, will continue their push to make the playoffs when they play the Kansas City Comets tonight at 7:30 in the Forum.
With fewer than 15 games remaining in the Major Indoor Soccer League season, four teams are vying for what will likely be the three remaining Western Division playoff spots--the top four teams in each division make it to postseason play. The San Diego Sockers have a 10 1/2-game lead over their closest rival, the Comets (21-20).
The Lazers (21-21) and Tacoma Stars are tied for third, trailing the Comets by half a game and leading the Wichita Wings by two games.
The Lazers and Comets have split four games this season, but the Lazers have won the last two, including a 7-3 victory in their last meeting, Feb. 12, at the Forum. The Comets moved into second place Sunday with a 5-4 victory over the Stars.
