Prep Baseball : Torrey Pines Rallies Past Rancho Buena Vista, 7-6

Aaron Miradon did not give up a hit in 5 innings as Torrey Pines came from behind to defeat Rancho Buena Vista, 7-6, in a Goodman-Pirate tournament game at Torrey Pines.

Miradon (2-0) struck out 10. In 14 innings this season, Miradon, who also has a save, has struck out 24 and allowed only 2 hits.

Rancho Buena Vista scored all its runs in the first two innings, when Torrey Pines starter Bobby Kennedy walked six before being lifted for Miradon in the second.

Bob McGriff, who was 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs, hit a two-run game-winning home run for Torrey Pines in the sixth. John Lynch also had 3 RBIs for Torrey Pines (4-0).

Patrick Henry 8, San Pasqual 1--Cory Powell hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning for host Patrick Henry (2-1). San Pasqual is 1-3.

Oceanside 4, El Camino 2--Mike Luna (1-0) scattered four hits and struck out nine for Oceanside (2-0) at MiraCosta College. Fred Armijo and Jerry Garrett each had two RBIs for Oceanside.

WARHAWK TOURNAMENT

Kearny 1, Castle Park 0--Eric Mercado singled and scored for Kearny (2-1-1) in the first when, after Jason Adams singled, Castle Park third baseman Cesar Gutierrez made a wild throw to second. John Williamson (1-0) picked up the victory.

Bonita Vista 10, San Dieguito 3--Host Bonita Vista (3-2) had five doubles and a home run and scored in all seven innings. David Tappan was 2 for 4 with a double and a home run and 3 RBIs. Randy Abshier (2-0) earned the victory and was 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs.

Hoover 9, Monte Vista 8--Visiting Monte Vista couldn’t overcome Hoover’s five-run second inning. Danny Carter was 2 for 3 for Hoover (1-4) with 4 RBIs.

Mar Vista 10, Valhalla 6--Mar Vista tagged host Valhalla’s Derek Berry (0-1) for four first-inning runs.

Grossmont 10, Mt. Miguel 3--Mike Rendina allowed one hit and struck out 9 in 5 innings, and also had 5 RBIs with a triple, a double and a home run for Grossmont (3-2).
