Barry Glassner argues that issues are not important in deciding presidential elections (Op-Ed Page, March 9). Rather, elections can be predicted by paying attention “to what the candidates look like.” Given his dating of the Nixon-McGovern contest as occurring in 1968, Prof. Glassner might well take his eyes off the candidates long enough to look at a history book.
