Local News in Brief : South County : Madame Modjeska to Be Topic for History Group
National Women’s History Month will be celebrated Wednesday by the Dana Point-Capistrano Beach Historical Society with a talk on the Polish actress, Madame Helena Modjeska.
Modjeska was a celebrated opera singer and entertainer who lived in Orange County from 1888 to 1906, and for whom a peak in the Santa Ana Mountains is named.
The speaker, to be introduced by author-historian Doris Walker, will be Ellen Lee, also an Orange County writer and historian.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Capistrano Bay Parks and Recreation building, 34052 Del Obispo St., Dana Point.
