This is in response to Yvonne Chapman’s letter (Viewers’ Views, March 6) concerning a recent “Family Ties” episode and her reaction to it. Chapman was upset that Jennifer, in order to calm herself before giving an important speech, asked for a drink to give herself courage. She certainly took the time to blast the series for that incident, but had she listened for the laughter after Jennifer’s request, she would have realized it was only a joke, and not to be taken seriously.

I believe that Chapman had good reason (as stated in her letter) to feel offended by the joke, but I also believe that she shouldn’t have made such a big deal about it.
