Citizens for Limited Growth submitted signature petitions to the city clerk’s office Tuesday in an effort to get a “Quality of Life” initiative on the November ballot.

The initiative would tie the granting of development permits to the developer’s performance standards for clean air and water, sewage and waste disposal facilities and traffic.

Representatives of the group, which began circulating the petitions in October, said they had gathered more than 80,000 signatures, but the clerk’s office said it would be several days before the number could be verified. The initiative needs 50,454 signatures to qualify for the ballot.
