Share

Oline Schmiers of Glendale needs three 1-inch buttons for a tan camel’s - hair coat ; she has not been able to locate that size anywhere. Can you help Schmiers over the hump with this hairy situation, or will she just decide to button up because she feels deserted?

William Schnell of Los Angeles wants ski pajamas for warmth; the bottoms have an elastic waistband and ankle cuffs or knit ribbing, and the tops, which go over the bottoms, have long sleeves with cuffs or knit ribbing. None of the department stores or catalogues he has investigated carries these pajamas. Can you help before the trail for this item goes completely cold, or will Schnell have to take a lot of good-natured ribbing?

In complete contrast, Robert Getchell of Los Angeles is looking for sweat socks made completely, or at least mostly, from wool ; the ones he has been able to locate are basically cotton. Can you help before Getchell gets cold feet over this problem, or will he have to sweat out the situation at least until the next sock hop?

Albert Schoenfield of Rancho Palos Verdes, who was looking for deerskin shoes, seems to have a lot of sole mates. Terri Kawecki of Los Angeles says Standard Shoe Stores carries them. Mel Schaeffer of Los Angeles and Merilee Hicks of Trona say Nordstrom is a good source. John Posey of Oceanside found Deer Scouts shoes (made by the Osceola Shoe Co.) at Shelhoup’s, 230 E. Vista Way in Vista. Our other sources are mail-order firms. Mrs. S. J. Miller of Los Angeles says men’s black Deerskin loafers (No. 7417AG) at $53 were offered by L.L. Bean, Freeport, Me. 04033. According to Virginia Eville of Arcadia, Deerskin Casuals in tan or brown are available for $29 from Competitive Edge Golf, 51 West 14th St., Suite 3F, New York, N.Y. 10011. And four readers told us that these shoes could be found in a catalogue put out by Deerskin, 119 Foster St., P.O. Box 6008, Peabody, Mass. 01961-6008; thanks to Mrs. Wendell Lee of Westminster, Lois Jenks and Lamora Canfield of Los Angeles and Helen Sullivan of Simi Valley.

Howard Lovejoy of Cathedral City, who wanted to be within earshot of a timer that keeps sounding until it is shut off, may soon wish for some peace and quiet. Mrs. E. L. Masthoff of Santa Barbara suggests a West Bend triple timer, which can beep for as long as three minutes; she bought one for $23.39 at the Home Improvement Center on East Gutierrez Street in Santa Barbara. (Betty Jennings of Panorama City also mentioned a West Bend timer.) Clarence Stevens of Mission Viejo recommends the Rival Model 500, made by the Rival Manufacturing Co. of Sedalia, Mo.; he bought one at Clark Drugs in Mission Viejo. Palmer Harding of Pacific Palisades, who also couldn’t find a decent timer, solved that problem by buying a Big Ben wind-up alarm clock and setting it for any time period he needs. Mel Schaeffer of Pomona says he bought a loud timer with a long-lasting cycle at a K mart last year. A La Jolla reader says the Lillian Vernon catalogue features a magnetic digital clock-timer-stopwatch (No. 6357) for $14.98 with a repeat beep alarm that might do the trick. Lastly, a Lompoc reader named Herb says he built a timer and no longer has use for it; we sent his address to Lovejoy.
