Pleasant and sunny, but warmer than usual, days will continue through the weekend and into next week, according to forecasters.

The National Weather Service’s Wilbur Shigehara also said the dry spell is likely to continue. “Our 90-day forecast indicates the rest of the month is going to be dry,” Shigehara said. “This could be significant for San Diego, because the farmers have been crying for rain the last two months now.

“The first two days of March were wet, but we haven’t had a drop since.”

The high temperatures for San Diego this time of year are around 66 degrees, 10 degrees lower than the past week’s temperatures, Shigehara said. The recent balmy days, however, have not come near the record highs of March, 1896, when temperatures stayed in the upper 80s, he added.

Some Morning Fog Due

Shigehara predicted that today’s highs will be in the low 80s downtown, low 90s inland and above 100 in the desert. Temperatures will drop slightly in all areas as the weekend goes on, and some fog and low clouds may make an appearance on the coast late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, he said.

Beach temperatures will be 70-76, then dip to 67-72 Saturday and 60-65 Sunday. The rest of the coastal strip, including downtown, will have high temperatures today between 78-83 degrees. Coastal temperatures will be 75-78 Saturday and 70-75 Sunday. Nighttime lows on the coast will be 50-55.

It will be as hot as summer in many inland areas today, reaching 83-93 degrees. Saturday will be a bit cooler, 80-88, and Sunday temperatures will be in the 75-84 range. Overnight lows inland will drop to 45-50.

Mountain highs will be 62-67 today and will remain in the low 60s throughout the weekend. Nighttime temperatures will be a chilly 30-35.

The deserts will be unseasonably hot tomorrow, with temperatures expected to hit 104 degrees in some areas. Saturday will bring lower temperatures of 96-100, and Sunday highs will be 90-95 degrees. Overnight lows will fall between 65 and 70.
