About 5,000 demonstrators, part of a “national day of emergency protest” against U.S. policy in Central America, rallied outside the Army’s Presidio base in San Francisco. The rally followed a cross-town march that grew throughout the day, but remained peaceful despite the throwing of a few eggs at police officers. Four mock “body bags” were left near the Presidio gate. There were no arrests.
