An off-duty San Diego police officer has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of his wife during a domestic quarrel, a San Diego police spokeswoman said Sunday.

Police said that when Alma Agrio returned to her Paradise Hills home late Saturday night after having gone out with friends, she became involved in an argument with her husband, Pablo Agrio, a four-year San Diego police officer.

During a fight in which both struck the other, Alma Agrio seized a revolver and pointed it at her husband, police said. In an ensuing struggle for the weapon, the gun discharged and a bullet hit Alma Agrio, 24, in the head, killing her instantly.
