Local News in Brief : 90 Suspected of Drunk Driving Held in Sweep
A Los Angeles police task force arrested 90 people suspected of drunk driving in a weekend sweep of the East San Fernando Valley, authorities said Sunday.
Officers operating from a command post in the 12600 block of Osborne Street arrested 54 drivers Saturday night and 36 Friday night, Los Angeles Police Officer Dennis Smith said.
Police used a system that allows those arrested to be processed in the field instead of being transported to jail facilities. Under this system, two converted buses are used for paper work and testing. The suspects are held in one of the buses until they can be picked up by friends or relatives.
