Local News in Brief : San Juan Capistrano : Suspect Held in Death of Shooting Victim
A suspect has been arrested in the shooting death of a Los Angeles man whose body was found on a roadside in San Juan Capistrano, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said Tuesday.
A passer-by saw the body of Eddie Jerome Greene, 55, laying alongside Rancho Viejo Road on Friday and called police, according to Lt. Richard Olson, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department. An autopsy showed that Greene died of multiple gunshot wounds, he said.
Evidence found at the scene led officials to the suspect, Luther Austin Edmonson, 41, a trucker from Los Angeles, Olson said.
Edmonson was arrested Monday night in the Westchester area of Los Angeles and was held on suspicion of murder in Orange County Jail on $250,000 bond, he said.
Officials said Edmonson knew the victim, but they would not say what evidence led them to him.
