Share

A group of business people, elected officials and community leaders has announced the formation of a committee to fight a slow-growth initiative slated for the June 7 ballot.

The group, named the Committee for Common Sense in Pasadena, will be headed by 20 co-chairmen, including Mayor John C. Crowley, school board President Noel Hatch, Jet Propulsion Laboratory Director Lew Allen and Huntington Memorial Hospital Director Allen Mathies .

The initiative, sponsored by a group of northeast Pasadena residents, would place a moratorium on major residential and commercial development for up to two years. It would also require new development fees to pay for street and utility improvements that primarily benefit new businesses.
