A 2-year-old boy was in critical condition at Children’s Hospital late Wednesday after nearly drowning in his family’s swimming pool, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Stephen John Thomas Mendez was found by his mother, Mary Ann, at 11:19 a.m. at the bottom of their swimming pool in the 800 block of Joanne Way, a police spokeswoman said.
The boy was believed to have been underwater for five to seven minutes, the spokeswoman said.
Mendez received CPR from paramedics at the scene and was taken by Life Flight helicopter to Children’s Hospital, police said.
