Undefeated Hart Opens Tournament in Las Vegas Today
Hart High’s baseball team, 9-0 overall and ranked No. 2 in the Valley by The Times, begins play in the Sundevil Baseball Classic in Las Vegas today with a doubleheader.
The round-robin tournament, hosted by El Dorado High of Las Vegas, runs today through Saturday. The tournament features teams from California, Utah, Arizona and Nevada.
Hart begins the tournament with a doubleheader against Tucson (9 a.m.) and Las Vegas (noon). Hart is scheduled to play four games.
Baseball is the team’s mission and Coach Bud Murray shrugs off the idea that his team will be distracted by the bright lights of the big city.
“We’re going to have some fun, sure, but we’re also going to play some ballgames,” Murray said.
