Carson and Robitaille Have Club Records Within Reach as Kings Travel to Calgary

Jimmy Carson and Luc Robitaille are close to club records as the Kings embark on a season-ending two-game trip, starting tonight against the Calgary Flames at the Olympic Saddledome.

Carson needs 4 goals to equal the club’s single-season record of 59, set by Marcel Dionne in the 1978-79 season. Carson, 19, leads the Kings with 55 goals and 106 points, both National Hockey League records for a U.S.-born player.

Robitaille, who has 48 goals and leads the Kings with 56 assists, needs 1 point to equal the club record for a left wing. Charlie Simmer set it with 105 points in the 1980-81 season.

The Kings, who scored a season-high 5 power-play goals in a 9-7 victory over the Flames Wednesday night to run their season total to a club-record 98, will play at Edmonton Sunday.

The Kings will then play the Flames in a best-of-seven Smythe Division semifinal series starting Wednesday night in Calgary.
