WASHINGTON — Police say that George White, the architect of the Capitol, suffered minor injuries Friday when his government car struck one of the barricades that White recommended be installed to protect the Capitol from terrorists.
Officer Dan Nichols of the Capitol police force said that White, who is responsible for the Capitol’s buildings and grounds, was treated by Capitol physicians, along with a driver who also suffered minor injuries.
Nichols said White’s car struck the mechancial barrier at the south entrance to the Capitol Plaza as the device, called a “slammer,” was being lowered to allow entry.
