CLASS OF 1915: Sadly, the only news I have is the passing of Chauncy Portman. Portie took his traditional evening brandy and passed away in Summerville, Me. For more on our class see “In Memory.” Anyone else out there with good news, please write.

CLASS OF 1926: Thorp Jenkins is doing well after a hip replacement. He writes to say that his book of poetry, “The Flame at Twilight,” is ready for publication. Here is a sample:

CLASS OF 1937: Earl Salomen ran into Tut Malone on the beach at Naples, Fla. Earl says Tut wanted to play tennis even though he is recovering from a hernia repair. Those of you who were at the 50th reunion will remember the way Tut performed on the basketball court before he was carried off. . . . We also heard from Bob Phalen, who is completing his book, “A Grand Piano From Scratch in Your Workshop.” . . . Chauncy Portman Jr. and his loyal wife, Betsy (the fair Betsy Goodnough, Vassar ‘40), have returned from a cruise in time to see their first great-grandchild on their way home to Newport.

CLASS OF 1946: Bump Hampton and Cap Drebble have had a contest to see who can lose the most weight. Bump’s on the Cape Cod lobster diet and Cap’s on the Sarasota ice cream diet. . . . Tom Nielsen and his Diana report that retirement from the military allows them more time to see their 10 grandchildren and three Dalmatians and to finish “The Guns and Butter Cookbook.” . . . Trip Thalmeyer says this is really it. After divorces from Laura Layton (Holyoke ‘48) and Dorothy Singleton (Stanford ‘53), the Tripper has a new lady, Kiki Ralston (Cal State Dominguez Hills ‘79) and is recovering nicely from the triple bypass.

CLASS OF 1959: Chauncy Portman III reports that daughter Erin will be entering the class of ’92 this fall. Chauncy, who has just been named CEO of Standard Pharmaceuticals, says he can “just about afford it.” . . . Silt Wilson ran into Stansfield Broom, who is now Sister Marlene, an Episcopal nun. . . . Dump Cook has been named head of the new medieval sciences department at the college and has published “Where We Stand: A Look Back.” This is must reading for all alums.

CLASS OF 1968: Matt Mowry, now called Rama Dam, writes that the ashram is always open to his old classmates. . . . Tyler Wilson, recently appointed urban affairs director by President Reagan, says he bears no ill will for his old campus nickname, “the black guy.” . . . Kent Goldstein writes from Los Angeles, where he is producing a TV series based on his experiences as a computer programmer in ‘Nam. . . . New parents Sylvia and Kip Hampton report that the twins, Jimi and Janis, are doing well.

CLASS OF ‘83: Holly Mooney-Schwemmer is doing an internship at Albert Einstein in psychogynecology. . . . Seth Cleary has left Charles Schwab for Prudential-Bache. . . . Nicole Dawson has married Lawrence Lawson (Smith ‘82). The Dawson-Lawsons will start Columbia Law School this fall. . . . Buzz Baskin thanks the class of ’91 for hosting Gay and Lesbian Alumni Weekend. . . . Chip Stevens writes that he just started on his MBA at Berkeley and that he still wears shoes and believes in capitalism. . . . Bring your beanies to the fifth this summer!
