Body of Man Pulled From Lake Hodges

The body of a man floating in Lake Hodges was discovered Tuesday by a motorist on Interstate 15, the San Diego Police Department reported.

The unidentified victim is believed to be a Latino, 20 to 25 years old, 5-foot-7 and 120 pounds, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.

The man, who is believed to have drowned, had been in the water about a week, Deputy Coroner Penny Hammerstead said. He was clad only in black shorts.

The motorist notified authorities after noticing the body near the north shore of the lake while heading south on the freeway about 2 p.m. San Diego police and a Sheriff’s Department helicopter retrieved the body from the lake at 3:30 p.m.
