Santa Monica : Yard Parking Subject to Fine
Car owners who park their automobiles in their front yards face fines as high as $100 following the City Council’s adoption of an ordinance Tuesday night.
The new law takes effect May 12 and is intended to help preserve the residential character of Santa Monica neighborhoods.
Although Mayor James Conn expressed concern about the new ordinance’s affect on neighborhoods with either restricted or insufficient parking facilities, his attempt to amend the ordinance to exempt some residential areas was defeated.
