Local News in Brief : Plan to Hike Boat Fare Unopposed
The city of Avalon will not oppose an effort by Catalina Passenger Service for a round-trip fare increase between Avalon and Newport Beach, the City Council decided this week.
Bob Black, a company representative, said the increase from $22 to $26.80 will be required if the company carries out its plan to begin using a new, faster boat.
The application is pending before the state Public Utilities Commission.
