Japanese Wins Neutra Award

Kisho Kurokawa of Tokyo received the 1988 Richard Neutra Award for Professional Excellence from the College of Environmental Design at Cal Poly Pomona.

Kurokawa, who spent four days at the university lecturing and critiquing students’ works, spoke before the awards ceremony on his philosophy of architecture, which is influenced by Buddhism and traditional Japanese culture.

He is the ninth person to receive the award, which recognizes outstanding contributions in architecture and education.
