Skeletal remains found by a hiker in the Angeles National Forest over the weekend were identified Thursday as those of an Alhambra man missing for more than a year.

Using dental records, the coroner’s office identified the body as that of Leo Maloof, 51, Sheriff’s Department spokesman Deputy Gabe Ramirez said.

Steve Stewart, a spokesman for the coroner’s office, said the death was listed as a homicide. The cause of death was not immediately known.
