Long Beach : Edgerton Endorses Kell

Mayor Ernie Kell has added Councilman Wallace Edgerton to the list of council members endorsing him in his bid to become Long Beach's first modern-day full-time mayor.

Edgerton, the District 1 councilman who was reelected April 12, said in a statement that "Kell always has maintained the highest standards of integrity as a public official and has represented our city ably."

While Edgerton was neutral during the primary, his campaign committee gave $150 to public relations executive Luanne Pryor, who nearly edged out Councilwoman Jan Hall for second place in the mayor's race. Hall and Kell face one another in the June 7 runoff.

On the City Council, Kell has the endorsements of Councilmen Warren Harwood, Clarence Smith, Edd Tuttle and Ray Grabinski. Hall is endorsed by Councilman Tom Clark. Although he has the figurehead title of mayor, Kell officially represents District 5.
