La Mirada Councilman Wayne Rew has been named mayor by his fellow councilmen for the third time, while Councilman Art Leslie has been chosen mayor pro tem.
Rew, first elected in 1978, and Leslie, who is serving his first term, assumed the posts last week. At the same time, Councilmen Dave Peters and Bob Chotiner were sworn in for their fourth and first terms, respectively.
Rew succeeds Mayor Ben Ashley, who did not run for reelection.
