Panel to Review Orange County Architecture

The Modern Museum of Art, in conjunction with the American Institute of Architects, will offer a panel discussion on Orange County architecture Thursday night. “What Is and What Will Be: An Examination of the Architectural Selection Process in Orange County” will be held at the museum at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $7 for museum and AIA members and $10 for non-members.

The panel will include David J. Neuman, campus architect at UC Irvine; developer Roger Torriero; Times architecture critic Sam Hall Kaplan, and architects Norman Pheiffer and Carl Mclarand. Newport Beach architect Arthur V. Strock will moderate the discussion.

Also planned is a slide lecture by art educator Roberta Carasso on principles of architecture on May 12. Admission is $4 for members and $6 for non-members. Carasso will lead a series of architecture workshops for parents and their children from 9:30 a.m. to noon on three Saturdays: May 14, 21 and 28. Cost, including materials, for each parent-child pair is $50 for museum members and $60 for non-members.
