Garrido Gains 800th Career Victory
Augie Garrido, the former Cal State Fullerton baseball coach now at the University of Illinois, got his 800th career victory Saturday with a 4-2 win over Minnesota in the first game of a Big Ten doubleheader at Champaign, Ill.
Garrido left Fullerton last August after 15 seasons as the Titan coach. He has led Illinois to a 23-14 overall record and a 10-12 mark in Big Ten play.
He was 667-292-6 while at Fullerton and guided the Titans to National Collegiate Athletic Assn. championships in 1979 and 1984.
Garrido spent one season at San Franciso State and three at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo before he came to Fullerton in 1973.
