Two members of a sky-diving team plunged to their deaths when the single parachute they used failed to open, Riverside County authorities reported. The parachutists were Terry Dean, 33, of San Diego, and David James Wilds, 37, of Simi Valley, said Stephanie Albright, a county coroner’s investigator. The men were strapped to each other for the practice jump from a plane flying at between 12,000 and 13,000 feet over Perris Valley Airport, she said. The main chute failed to deploy and the reserve chute opened too close to the ground. The reason for the parachute failure was not known. The men were members of the Coors Sky-Diving Team, sponsored by the Adolph Coors Co.
