Countless magazine and newspaper pieces have chronicled Sting’s passage from lowly jazz musician to world-famous pop star. But maybe his agent only reads Variety. Sting told us that when he was cast in “Stormy Monday,” the new British thriller set in Newscastle, his agent seemed concerned that Sting might be put off by its obscure setting.

“He asked me if I’d ever heard of Newcastle,” Sting said, laughing. “I told him I was only born there!”
