Oceanside Woman Shot in Face at Front Door
A 32-year-old Oceanside woman was shot in the face early Tuesday morning when she answered a knock at the door, Oceanside Police Department spokesman Bob George said.
Rita Martinez was taken by Life Flight to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, where she was listed in critical condition after surgery, George said.
According to George, when Martinez opened the front door of her house, in the 1400 block of Division Street at 5:50 a.m., an unidentified assailant poked a gun through the door and fired a shot.
