The State : Manson Ally Denied Parole

Share

The state Board of Prison Terms has denied parole for Manson family member Bruce Davis, saying the “heinous, cruel and callous” nature of the murders he committed prohibit his release. Davis, once referred to by Los Angeles County prosecutors as mass murderer Charles Manson’s “No. 2 man,” was convicted of the 1969 Manson-dictated murder of musician Gary Hinman and the decapitation-slaying of Donald (Shorty) Shea, a movie ranch worker. Psychological profiles indicate that Davis, 45, who is serving two life terms at the California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo, harbors deep-seated anger and could still be dangerous, parole board spokeswoman Phyllis Scott said after Davis’ parole bid was turned down for the eighth time. One-on-one therapy was suggested for Davis to deal with his anger and hostility, she said. Manson, who along with three women followers, was convicted in the 1969 murders of actress Sharon Tate and six others, is serving several life terms at San Quentin State Prison.
