AND NOW HERE’S THE NEWS: Huey Lewis & the News will be back in July with a new album, “Small World.” The record’s first single, “Perfect World,” should hit the stores by mid-June, with other cuts including “Better Be True,” “Walking With the Kid” and “Old Antoine’s.” One special guest slated to appear on the album--Stan Getz. The tenor sax great agreed to make an appearance in return for Lewis performing at benefit this summer for the jazz program at Stanford University. Lewis begins a 6-week American tour Aug. 3 in Paso Robles. . . . We’re betting George Michael isn’t worrying about frequent-flier miles these days. The hot popster is in the midst of a 15-week European tour--but prefers spending the night at his new home in St. Tropez. Luckily, the resort has a new heliport. Michael has been helicoptering to Nice, then flying in a private Lear Jet to tour dates around the Continent--then zipping back home for a midnight snack. . . . MCA Records has signed Eric B. and Rakhim, the rap wizards whose “Paid in Full (Cold Cut Mix)” is the highlight of the “Colors” sound-track album. . . . Cheap Trick has recorded a new version of “Money,” which will appear on the sound track to “Caddyshack 2.” . . . And Windham Hill Records’ “Storybook Classics” series, which won a Grammy this year, has just released a folk-comic version of “Pecos Bill,” starring--what a team!--Ry Cooder and Robin Williams.
