Venice High Hit by $300,000 Fire

An early morning fire at Venice High School Saturday caused an estimated $300,000 damage, authorities said. The blaze, which broke out in a classroom about 4:45 a.m., was battled by seven fire-fighting companies and brought under control within 30 minutes, City Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said. No injuries were reported at the school at 12900 W. Venice Blvd and the cause was under investigation.
