Two men were arrested after a hit-and-run wreck at an intersection in Canoga Park left a Chatsworth man dead, Los Angeles police said Monday.

The accident occurred at 11:30 p.m. Sunday at Saticoy Street and Corbin Avenue, Detective Anthony Bartolotto said. The 31-year-old victim, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, was driving north on Corbin when his car was struck by a pickup truck that had run a red light on Saticoy, he said.

The victim was thrown from his car and dragged 150 feet in the wreckage, Bartolotto said. The driver and passenger from the pickup truck got out of their vehicle and fled, he said.

Bartolotto said Los Angeles firefighters who arrived at the scene moments after the crash saw the fleeing men and chased them, finally catching the passenger, Francisco Lopez, 29, of Canoga Park, in a nearby field. Lopez, arrested on suspicion of accessory to murder, was being held at the Van Nuys Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail, Bartolotto said.

Police were able to identify the driver of the pickup as Francisco Nunez Miranda, 30, who was arrested on suspicion of murder at his home in Canoga Park, Bartolotto said. Miranda was being held without bail in the jail ward of Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where his arm was being treated for an injury that occurred in the crash.
