West Hollywood : ‘Pooper Scooper’ Law Changed

Share

In an effort to make walking along West Hollywood’s sidewalks less messy, the City Council on Monday voted to give the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department authority to help enforce a new “pooper scooper” ordinance aimed at pet owners.

The ordinance requires pet owners to carry in full view a container or wrapper for cleaning up after their pets. It imposes a fine of $25 for offenders.

County animal control officers had the sole authority to enforce a previous ordinance, and could not issue citations unless they witnessed the violation. City officials said the new law is a response to complaints from residents about unsightly sidewalks and lawns.
