Man Dies as Fire Guts Clothing Firm Building

A fire sparked by an electrical short gutted a downtown clothing manufacturing firm, killing an employee and causing nearly $2 million in damage, authorities said Saturday.
The blaze at John’s Manufacturing Co., 1830 W. Pico Blvd., was reported just before midnight Friday, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Williamson.
The victim, an employee who sometimes spent the night in the building, was found dead inside, Williamson said.
