Tennis Roundup : Sweden Gains Team Final Against U.S.

Anders Jarryd defeated Milan Srejber, 6-3, 7-5, Saturday at Dusseldorf, West Germany, enabling Sweden to qualify for the final of the $750,000 World Team Cup tennis tournament.
Sweden will face the United States in the final round today.
Jarryd’s victory gave the Swedes a 1-1 tie against Czechoslovakia, and put them into the final on aggregate points. Earlier, Czechoslovakia’s Tomas Smid defeated Sweden’s Stefan Edberg, 6-4, 7-6.
The United States defeated Argentina, 2-1, Friday to gain a berth in the final.
Second-seeded Lori McNeil won her semifinals match in the $100,000 Geneva Open after her opponent, Maria Perez-Roldan of Argentina, retired trailing, 6-2, 3-0.
Perez-Roldan, who had a knee operation in September, abandoned play after 45 minutes Saturday.
In today’s final, McNeil will meet Barbara Paulus of Austria, who downed Isabelle Demongeot of France, 4-6 6-3, 6-1.
Claudio Panatta defeated Lawson Duncan, 7-6, 6-2, and Massimiliano Narducci beat Pablo Arraya of Peru, 6-4, 6-1, to set up an all-Italian final at Florence, Italy.
Earlier in the day, Panatta defeated Pedro Rebolledo of Chile, 6-1, 7-6, in a quarterfinal match, and Narducci eliminated Jaime Yzaga of Peru, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
Judith Wiesner of Austria surprised top-seeded Natalia Zvereva of the Soviet Union, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6, in the semifinals of a $100,000 women’s tournament at Strasbourg, France.
