Relief pitcher Brad Havens, given his released by the Dodgers last week, signed a contract with the Cleveland Indians and will report to the Indians’ triple-A team at Colorado Springs, his agent said.
Mark Gillam said he talked with several clubs, including the Angels, before reaching an agreement with Cleveland.
“The Angels pursued it, but unfortunately we weren’t able to make a deal,” Gillam said. “That surprised me in view of their dire needs.
