Cobras Go for Second Straight Victory Tonight Against the Steamrollers

The Los Angeles Cobras, looking for their second consecutive Arena Football League victory, will play the New England Steamrollers tonight at 7:30 at the Sports Arena.

Led by quarterback Matt Stevens, the Cobras (1-3) are coming off a 66-32 win over the Pittsburgh Gladiators Saturday night at the Sports Arena.

Stevens threw for 9 touchdowns while completing 16 of 19 passes for 347 yards against the Gladiators.

Stevens also set a mark that will never be broken when he connected with receiver Joe Kelly, on a 49-yard touchdown pass, an Arena Football League record. The field is 50 yards long.

The Cobras are in a three-way tie for third with the New York Knights and the Steamrollers.

The Steamrollers (1-3) are also coming off their first win of the season, defeating the Knights, 24-13.

Receiver-defensive back James Hockaday, is New England’s top player. Hockaday is ranked third in the league in receiving with 26 catches for 332 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Hockaday, along with defensive back Chris Brewer, are standouts on a Steamroller defense that sacked New York quarterback James Crocicchia five times and intercepted him once. Brewer is second in the league in total return yardage with 230.

The game will not be on radio or television.
