Driver Pleads Guilty in Physician’s Death
A 34-year-old Solana Beach man has pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter in the January death of Rancho Santa Fe physician Dr. Anthony Armino.
Jeffrey Hinrichs was charged with felony drunken driving and possession of cocaine after he hit Armino, 51, who was riding his bicycle along Highway 101 in Encinitas.
The district attorney’s office in Vista dropped the charges in exchange for Hinrichs’ Tuesday plea of guilty to vehicular manslaughter, felony hit-and-run driving and transportation of cocaine.
Hinrichs will be sentenced June 21. He faces a maximum sentence of six years.
