Local News in Brief : Penn Intruder Sentenced
A man who was captured by Sean Penn with the aid of a bottle of salad dressing after trespassing onto the actor’s Malibu estate was sentenced Thursday to three years’ probation and fined $400.
Richard Barcelo, 20, had pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of trespassing on private property. Charges of prowling and assault were dismissed.
Penn, who plays a policeman in the current film “Colors,” was returning to his home in the exclusive beach colony with his wife, pop singer Madonna, when they spotted intruders on the property Jan. 20.
The actor, who once spent 33 days in jail for hitting a film extra, made a citizen’s arrest of Barcelo after striking him with a bottle of salad dressing.
