If You Love a Parade, Go to Brentwood’s Sunday Event

Brentwood takes on a small-town air--as small-town as Brentwood can realistically get--Sunday for the 13th annual Brentwood Hometown Parade. San Vicente Boulevard will be blocked off to car traffic from 26th Street to near Barrington Avenue all day.
The parade begins at 11 a.m. at 26th Street and San Vicente Boulevard, with grand marshal Paul Moyer leading the way. Saluting the nearby Veterans Administration facility and paying tribute to the Memorial Day holiday itself, there will be many marching units of service veterans. The two-hour parade will also feature bands, elephants, camels, clowns, antique and classic cars and many notables.
Activities will be clustered on San Vicente Boulevard between Montana and Barrington avenues. You’ll find food booths sponsored by community groups and selling fast food from hot dogs and beer to Oriental dishes, arts and crafts, a moon-bounce ride and pony rides. After their stint in the parade, the elephants and camels will also be available for riding.
Two bandstands will be set up; one will feature vaudeville acts, the other a concert by the Brentwood Symphony at 2 p.m. Festivities continue until 5 p.m. Information: (213) 820-2992.
