NCAA Women’s Golf : Coach’s Daughter Wins Title, and Leads Tulsa

Tulsa, coached by Dale McNamara and led by her daughter, Melissa, won the individual and team titles Saturday at the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. women’s golf championships.

Melissa McNamara shot a 4-under-par 70 and won the individual title with a 72-hole total of 287 as she led Tulsa to its second NCAA women’s title.

Jean Bartholomew of Duke was two shots behind at 289, and teammate Evelyn Orley was third with 290.

Tulsa shot 1,175 in the tournament at the 6,277-yard New Mexico State University course, including a course-record 286 Saturday. Georgia and Arizona State tied for second at 1,182.

Florida, with a total of 1,184, came in fourth, and Duke, with 1,186, took fifth place. Defending champion San Jose State came in sixth with 1,187.
