A Los Angeles man who was left a quadriplegic in a shooting last year was critically wounded in another shooting early today just hours before he was to testify against the suspect in the first attack. Police said they are checking to see if there is any link between the two shootings.

Keith Curry, 24, was scheduled to testify at a preliminary hearing against his brother-in-law, Donald Smith, accused of shooting him in the neck and paralyzing him in a September, 1987, attack, Detective Richard Knapp said. Smith, 37, has been free on bail. Curry early today was shot twice in the head by an intruder who broke into his Lake View Terrace house, Knapp said. The gunman fired a shot at Curry’s sister, scaring her off, and then shot Curry as he lay in bed. Curry was in critical condition at Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills.
