Hearing on Gang Violence
Gang violence will be the subject of a House criminal justice subcommittee hearing Monday in the Compton City Hall council chambers. Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.), the subcommittee chairman, will conduct the hearing.
Conyers is coming to Compton at the request of the city’s congressional representative, Democratic Rep. Mervyn M. Dymally.
Among those slated to testify at the 9:30 a.m. hearing are Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Ira Reiner, Sheriff Sherman Block, U.S. Atty. Robert C. Bonner, Paul Hoffmann of the American Civil Liberties Union and Compton city officials.
