Jockey Olguin Fractures Leg at Hollypark

Apprentice jockey Jerry Olguin suffered a hairline fracture of the right leg Wednesday when his fourth-race Hollywood Park mount, I Tryalot Too, flipped over in the starting gate, officials said.

Olguin, who won his first U.S. race Monday aboard Emperador Al Norte in the first race at Hollywood Park, was treated at Centinela Hospital Medical Center where he will remain Wednesday night for observation.

Olguin, who has won a dozen races at Caliente Racetrack in Mexico, will wear a cast for a month and will be unable to ride, his agent said.

In the $55,000 feature race on the turf, favored Northern Aspen, under Gary Stevens, jumped into an early lead went on to win by six lengths.

Riverbride, ridden by Alex Solis, finished second a neck in front of Bronzewing, with Eddie Delahoussaye aboard, in a field of eight in the race for fillies and mares 4-years-old and up.

Northern Aspen, a 6-year-old mare, covered 1 1/8 miles over a firm course in 1:47 2/5 and earned $30,250 for the victory, third in seven U.S. starts that pushed her career earnings to $249,319.
