Oceanside Girl Dies After Truck Hits Her
A 5-year-old girl was fatally injured when she dashed into the path of a pickup truck in front of her Oceanside home, police said Sunday.
Marissa McGarry was rushed to Sharp Memorial Hospital by Lifeflight helicopter after the accident at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, but died about four hours later, said Linda Wood, an Oceanside Police Department spokeswoman.
Wood said the girl, who suffered severe head and leg injuries, reportedly ran between parked cars into the street and was hit by the truck driven southbound in the 500 block of Canyon Drive by Otto Osuna, 51, of Oceanside. No arrests were made, police said.
